About Me

A look into my counselling space at the Oamaru Youth Centre
About Amanda
Kia ora, I'm Amanda! Originally from Ireland, I moved to Oamaru, NZ in 2003 with my Kiwi husband and young family. Alongside my deeply fulfilling role as a counsellor, I also love being a wife and mother to my four (now adult!) children.

I'm a long-time coffee lover, avid reader and dedicated podcast listener. Thinkers and storytellers including Rachel Held Evans, Shane Claiborne, Brené Brown, and John O'Donohue continue to inspire and enrich my understanding of compassion, courage and connection. Health and wellness, faith and spirituality are areas that I'm deeply curious about, and they continue to shape my approach to living and counselling.

Nurturing my own creative expression is important to me, reminding me of the beauty and impact found in joy, growth and mindfulness. My creative outlets include music, painting, and I've even recently taken up pottery!

Through my own personal journey and counselling practice , I seek to encourage others to embrace their unique stories and find healing and hope along the way.
